Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general operational guidance of the Senior Facilities/Camp Manager, Kinshasa, and the OIC General Services in the Sectors, the incumbent is responsible for supervising crews and contractors undertaking cleaning and grounds keeping of MONUC premises throughout the mission area, as well as managing contracts for waste disposal, laundry, fumigation and accommodation services for the camps.
a. Responsible for the operation, day-to-day supervision of crew and contractors cleaning and keeping the grounds of all MONUC premises; offices, UN-provided accommodation, air strip perimeters, camps and other installations.
b. Task, monitor and verify contract compliance for services provided in cleaning, grounds keeping, fumigation, waste removal and accommodation.
c. Monitor occupancy at MONUC provided accommodation and provide cleaning and laundry services to residents according to contract specifications, as applicable.
d. Maintain roads, open areas and grounds within the mission premises, including street cleaning, garbage collection, and development of grounds and open surfaces, such as planting, cultivation and trimming of vegetation, etc.
e. Prepare and implement buildings/site inspection/maintenance schedules and establish pro-active maintenance programmes.
f. Keep accurate record of activities performed and control quality of work completed
g. Train and motivate personnel hired to support the maintenance programme.
h. Keep accurate stock record and control stocks to meet the above tasks
i. Responsible for routine camp administration duties.
j. Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Background:
A post secondary education or recognized equivalent qualifications
Experience Required:
At least five years experience in a supervisory position handling contracts, personnel and stocks.
Operational Skills:
a. Familiarity with a PC word-processing applications, such as MS Word and Excel.
b. Languages: Fluency in English, ability to draft reports and routine correspondence. Good, clear communications skills. Ability to give instructions in French.
c. Ability to thrive in difficult circumstances and isolated living conditions.
d. A valid driving license and ability to drive stick-shift, 4-wheel drive vehicles.
