UN Volunteers Programme Assistant
UN Volunteers is currently accepting applications for a Programme Assistant post for the Regional Empowerment and Action to Combat HIV beyond Borders project with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This project will promote and facilitate dialogue, sharing and learning between the countries of the Asia region and will proactively seek association and linkages with existing schemes and activities of governments and others that enhance opportunities and impact prevention, care and community support initiatives to contain the epidemic..

This assignment will be located in the UNDP office in Beijing, and is for a contract of one year. The programme assistant will work under the supervision of the UNDP HIV/AIDS Programme Officer. S/He will be responsible for the following:

·Assist the Programme Officer in the implementation of the Leadership Development Programme for China, including liaising with the government counterparts, preparing for and organizing workshops (e.g.: documentation, and logistics), and other aspects of programme implementation as needed.
·Keep abreast of policy developments for HIV/AIDS areas in Northeast Asia and provide input in this respect to the regional portal.
·Assist the Programme Officer in implementing planned activities in the areas of migration, empowering of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) and advocacy of the Regional Programme, including networking with potential partners, arranging periodic meetings with national counterparts, and assisting in coordination with the HIV Focal Points of Republic of Korea and Mongolia.
·Maintain close relationships with the Finance section of the Service Center to facilitate the disbursement of authorized funds, regular monitoring of expenses and timely financial reporting to the Delhi office on a bi-monthly basis.
·Provide administrative and other support as required, including assistance in making travel arrangements.

The selected candidate must possess the following qualifications:

·Strong academic credentials, minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in development studies and/or social science
·Significant working experience, minimum 1-2 years' relevant work experience in a development and/or social development related field
·Previous experiences with the government and/or international aid agencies are highly desirable
·Full working knowledge of English and capable of translation between English and Chinese
·Proven organization and coordination skills
·Strong interpersonal skills, with a high degree of sensitivity
·Prior volunteering experience and/or knowledge about the UNV/UNDP programme an advantage
