Every day during the last full week of December, 2007, a hundred information stands were set up all over the city, providing information, translation services and first aid services for the general public. In order to advocate for the Green Olympics Concept, the slogan “Everyone is a Green Olympics Volunteer”, was designed to reflect the importance of volunteerism in achieving an environmentally friendly Olympics. This slogan was printed on 100 vertical banners, along with 50,000 leaflets advocating for ways in which everyone can live more environmentally friendly lives – to be “Green Olympic Volunteers”. Each of the information stands had one of the vertical banners and volunteers handing out the advocacy leaflets. Thousands of passers-by who got the leaflets for free could easily learn some useful tips about environmental protection and Green Olympics. There was also significant local media coverage on these successful trials, which had highly promoted public awareness on Green Olympics and achieved good nationwide repercussions.
